Flowers Fun in the Burbs

Besides the fact that when selling your home it is always a plus to have gorgeous flower arrangements prominently displayed throughout the house, the truth is that flowers not only beautify and brighten up a room but they can also lift your spirits.  At least this is how I feel about flowers.  When I buy a flower arrangement or someone sends me flowers, it really picks me up – the flowers honestly bring a smile to my face.  This may sound a bit strange, but it’s true.  The colors, textures, smell and sheer loveliness are something to behold.  And so, for those of you who share my sentiments, here are some places in which to have Flower Fun in the Burbs:

Weston, MA

• Leiby’s Garden Shop - Located in Weston Center, Leiby’s produces beautiful arrangements when you plan and order in advance, according to my friend, Landis.  She also adds that if you need something right away and don’t have time to wait, the orchids here are a great option.

Wellesley, MA

• Jack Payne Florist, Inc. - Conveniently located on Linden Street, my friend, M.A., loves Jack Payne when she is looking for traditional flowers or arrangements.
• Posies of Wellesley - Situated right in Wellesley Center, Posies offers beautiful arrangements and a convenient location, thus making it a popular flower fun destination.
• Whole Foods - All of the Whole Foods locations present fabulous options for finding gorgeous and unique flowers, arrangements and plants.  Whole Foods has other burb locations in Newton and Wayland.
• Winston Flowers - To me, Winston’s is la creme de la creme, which most times means it comes with a larger price tag – but it’s often worth the splurge. Located in Wellesley Center, Winston’s also has burb stores in Newton and Concord, MA.

Wayland, MA

• Mahoney’s Garden Center - When I moved to the burbs, this was the first place that I happily went for plants and flowers for my new and first home. Located just past the Weston line, I often venture back here for plants and gifts as well.  Mahoney’s has several other garden centers, including one in nearby Concord.
• Russell’s Garden Center - I have to say that more than the flowers and plants here, which are formidable to say the least, I love the gift shop.  There are fantastic finds for the kids, for your garden, for birthdays, etc.  I could spend hours here – and at times, I have.

Watertown, MA

• Russo’s - Close to the Newton line, I frequently traveled here when I was in the Provisional Group of the Weston Garden Club and was in need of healthy, vibrant fresh flowers for the competitions.  Russo’s also offers fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads, specialty foods – I could go on and on.  It’s quite an impressive store and well worth the trip.

Sudbury, MA

• My Passion Flower - my friend, Kate, says she loves this flower store for its unique arrangements, fun gifts and affordable prices…. The owner’s philosophy is “Live Passionately and Give Passionately,” and it shows in her floral products.

Newton, MA

• Fleuri Garden Design - Patty strongly recommends this store and Zoe Forbes, who does all of her Christmas arrangements.
• Twig - My friend, Linda, loves the fresh blooms and beautiful selections here….

Needham, MA

• Blossoms - Laura enjoys this flower store for its eclectic designs, silk flowers, plants and trees as well as its stunning gifts and great service.  She has raved about it for years.

Lincoln, MA

• Stonegate Gardens - Located just over the Weston line, Stonegate Gardens offers a little bit of everything – flowers, plants, garden material, design help, gifts, etc….
