Wellesley MA

Settled in 1650, Wellesley, MA is located only 12 miles west of Boston on Route 9.  In addition to being a world renowned center of culture and education, Wellesley is also one of New England’s most desirable residential suburbs. It is characterized by many lovely neighborhoods, one of the best public school systems in America, and an excellent commute to Boston by car or rail.  Downtown Wellesley is a mixture of fashionable shops and specialty stores.

In additon to theWellesley  public school system, there are four private schools, and three colleges in the town.

Several local playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball fields, a cross country ski trail and golf course provide places for outdoor recreation. There are conservation areas for hiking or horseback riding. For swimming and sailing, Morses Pond is a favorite spot. The Recreation Department sponsors a variety of activities from exercise groups to the symphony. Wellesley also has a Youth Commission which provides a variety of events, programs and services designed to meet the needs of Wellesley teens.

Wellesley’s population reflects a variety of incomes and professions. Many people commute between Routes 128 and 495. Commuter trains run from Wellesley to Boston’s Back Bay and South Station. MBTA rapid transit service is available from the nearby Riverside Station.

One of the most desirable of all western suburbs, Wellesley offers excellent educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities.
