Dover, Massachusetts

Town Information and Real Estate Sales Statistics

Town Information

Dover is one of the most elegant of country towns within close proximity to Boston. It has a decidedly rural quintessence, with both open fields and forests throughout the town. There are grand old estates and gentlemen’s farms as well as lovely newer neighborhoods, with homes set on at least an acre of land.

Commerce is relegated to a small village in the center of town. The nearby suburban towns provide a full range of shopping facilities.

Dover’s educational system is superior. The elementary schools are excellent and the Dover-Sherborn Regional middle and secondary schools are rated among the top in the state.

Recreation and nature can be enjoyed through horseback riding, tennis, hiking, bicycling, and skating. The Trustees of Reservations conserve and maintain vast forests abutting Dover town parks. There are active year round recreation programs for everyone – from children to seniors.
